  37.   I suggest that your response to this topic is even less intellegent, you
  38. admit affiliation with the Holy Roman Church, yet are unable approach this
  39. subject  without  anti-scientific  bias.   Science  has  not  contaminated
  40. itself, even the examples you cite ("nuclear weapons, etc") are not to the
  41. detriment of man's knowledge.  They are  examples,  rather,  of  political
  42. forces set loose with dangerous toys.

  44.   That the Catholic Church has, in times past, been  willing  to  surpress
  45. any  of  the  discoveries  that  Scientific Method has wrought, is witness
  46. enough of it's anti-scientific bias -- Your reaction is way out  of  line,
  47. do  a  simple  reality  check:  The  Pope  is  against  birth control; the
  48. population explosion threatens our very existance...seem rational to you?

  50.  What does all this have to do with S P A C E ??  The Church has  on  many
  51. ocassions  been vocal about it's opposition to space exploration, it's cry
  52. is one of concern for the poor, and how much better  the  money  could  be
  53. spent  on feeding the hungry, meanwhile the Church owns a good deal of the
  54. Earth's worldly treasures.  Pardon me for being a realist,  but  it  seems
  55. that  the  major  concern  of  the Church has been and will always be, the
  56. supression of knowledge  where  such  knowledge  frees  Mankind  from  the
  57. Church's-yoke.  History and the events of recent times prove this beyond a
  58. shadow of a doubt.

  60.  As Mankind explores the vastness of space, it becomes quite evident why
  61. the Church deplores such ventures: It is because the knowledge gained is
  62. freedom against the miserable dogma that is the epitome of such clap-trap
  63. as the Church provides.  Knowledge dispells dogma, and  that  signals  the
  64. end  of  the  Church's  evil strangle-hold on men's minds and lives!  Make
  65. your stand, but  do  it  openly  and  without  hedges.  You  either  favor
  66. Scientific  Method  or  Catholicism  as  your  means  of  illuminating the
  67. intellectual darkness, you cannot have them both in  the  absolute  sense.
